NEW ALBANY, Ind.- The IU Southeast Dance Team will be holding open tryouts on Friday, March 16 from 3:30-6 p.m. in the Activities Building. Practice times are Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. in the Activities Building and Tuesday from 4:20-6 p.m. at the Simmonds Performing Arts studio at 2101 Woodland Ct. in Jeffersonville.
The IU Southeast dance team will be hosting two winter events in the month of January. The first will be a dance clinin on January 7, 2012 from 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the IU Southeast gymnasium.
You will learn the latest team dance skills and choreography. It is for children grades K-12 and the cost is $25. The IU Southeast dancers will be teaching a hot new routine to be performed at the men's basketball game on Tuesday, January 10 at 8:00 p.m.. They will also get the opportunity to work with the IU Southeast dancers to advance their dance skills and learn what is necessary to be successful dancers.
The students will need to be there at 11:00 a.m. on January 7 and bring a sack lunch for our lunch break. T-shirts will be provided to be worn at the game. To register, click here.
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Indiana University Southeast announced today that Elizabeth Wooden and Alicia Corcoran-Scott have been hired as new co-coaches for the IU Southeast dance team effective immediately.
"We are very excited to have Elizabeth and Alicia join our athletic family," said IU Southeast Athletic Director Joe Glover. "They bring a wealth of experience and talent to our program and we are very lucky to have them to take our dance team to the next level."
Wooden is a 2005 graduate of Ball State University where she was a member of the Code Red Dance Team. Wooden is also currently a teacher and choreographer at Simmons Performing Arts Studio in Jeffersonville.
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Lori Carmichael-Shields announced today that she has resigned her position as head coach of the IU Southeast Red Edition Dance Team.
Carmichael-Shields served as the head coach of the dance team for four seasons. Recently, she took the Red Edition dance team to the Small College Open Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC.
"Lori has given a lot of her time and effort to support our dance team and we wish her nothing but the best in the future," said Interim Athletic Director Joe Glover.
