NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team has been involved in community service this fall, fulfilling a key component of the Champions of Character award that the University received earlier this year.

The Grenadiers raised $250 for the American Heart Association's Heart Walk and joined others in support of the cause by participating in the walk. "We really took pride in being able to show our support for those faced with heart disease by raising money and participating in the Heart Walk together as a team," head coach Lesley Drury-Prather said.

The team also helped a local Boy Scout troop earn its sports badge by hosting a volleyball camp. The team showed Boy Scout Troop 875 how to stay healthy and fit while playing volleyball. "We thoroughly enjoyed working with the boys & teaching them about volleyball," Prather said. "We don't get to work much with boys, so it was a fun change of pace for us. Working with kids is so much fun for our team!"

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Lauren McCartin and Sara Schum were named to the KIAC-All Conference Team on Monday.
 
Senior libero Lauren McCartin of Floyds Knobs, Ind. concluded her collegiate career by being named to her second-straight all-conference team.  The Grenadiers' vocal leader led the team with 490 digs this season. 
 


Freshman Sara Schum of Louisville had a great first season and was rewarded with an all-conference selection.  She led the Grenadiers with 285 kills.

Sun, Nov 13, 2011 - [Volleyball]
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team's season ended Saturday with a 3-0 loss to No. 1 seed Asbury in the semifinals of the KIAC tournament.
 
Jade Troutman led the Grenadiers with seven kills and Sara Schum added six kills.  Katie Johnson led IU Southeast with nine assists.
 
Senior Lauren McCartin ended her standout collegiate career with one assist and her 21 digs were a team high.

Thu, Nov 10, 2011 - [Volleyball]
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team heads to the KIAC tournanment on Friday at IU East.
 
The Grenadiers (21-16) will face Mountain State at 1 p.m. Friday in a matchup of number four vs. five seeds.
 
If IU Southeast advances, they will take on the winner of the Asbury vs. the winner of Brescia and Berea matchup at noon on Saturday.  The championship match is at 5 p.m.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team finished up its home schedule on Tuesday night, defeating Oakland City 3-0 on Senior Night.

PJ Cockerell had 10 kills for the Grenadiers and Katie Johnson had 14 assists to lead all players.

Senior Lauren McCartin of Floyds Knobs, Ind. had one kill and 12 digs in her final appearance at home for the Grenadiers.
 

IU Southeast (21-15, 10-5 KIAC) got revenge on a 3-1 loss at Oakland City on Sept. 28.

The Grenadiers head to Campbellsville on Thursday for their final match of the regular season. The match begins at 8 p.m. EST.
