NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Grenadier outfielder Cameron Conner became the first IU Southeast baseball player to be drafted by a Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise on June 8.

The Kansas City Royals drafted Conner with the 599th overall pick on the second day of the 2010 first-year player draft. Conner received the fourth overall pick in the 20th round of this year's draft a little after 5:30 p.m.

"It feels great to be the first player drafted from IU Southeast," said Conner. "It is a bit overwhelming but I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity. I was watching the coverage from my apartment in New Albany, and was excited when I heard and saw my name."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2010 NAIA Baseball All-Americans, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) All-America Selection Committee.

Grenadier senior Kyle Lenn was named NAIA Baseball All-American (2nd Team). Lenn becomes only the third IU Southeast baseball player in school history to earn this tremendous honor. Former Grenadiers Jeremy Burchfield (1998) and John Shields (1990) also were named NAIA Baseball All-Americans (2nd Team).

Lenn, who was also named KIAC Baseball Player of the Year and KIAC Male Athlete of the Year, broke the IU Southeast record for most home runs in a single season earlier this year.

LEWISTON, Idaho -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 196 baseball players have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes.

Daniel McDonald, first baseman for IU Southeast was one of the 196 athletes named as a baseball scholar-athlete. McDonald is a junior from Louisville, Ky. and previously attended Waggener High School. McDonald was named a KIAC Gold Glove winner for his outstanding defensive play for the Grenadiers at first base.

Nominated by each institution's head coach, to qualify a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, have achieved junior academic status and has attended at the nominating institution for two full academic years.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - IU Southeast senior baseball player Kyle Lenn has been named KIAC Male Athlete of the Year as announced this week by the league office.

Lenn, who was also named KIAC Baseball Player of the Year, broke the IU Southeast record for most home runs in a single season earlier this year. Lenn broke the previous record held by Chris Henon who hit 15 homeruns in 2001 for the Grenadiers. In 2010, Lenn led all Grenadiers in home runs with 24.

A native of Newburgh, Indiana, Lenn attended Vincennes University prior to transferring to IU Southeast in 2007.
