NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team was picked to finish second in the annual KIAC preseason poll.
 

The defending conference tournament and regular season champion Brescia University was selected as the top team. The team also advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. The Bearcats received four first-place votes.

IU Southeast and Asbury tied for the second spot in the polls with 1 first place vote and 29 points each. IU Southeast was the regular season and tournament runner-up last season. IU East is fourth in the poll with 16 points, followed by Berea and St. Louis College of Pharmacy in fifth with 10 points each.

NEW Albany, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team finished second at the Centre Invitational on Saturday.
 
The Grenadiers got second place finishes from their doubles teams and senior Matt Coomer defeated Cambellsville and Asbury No.1 singles players 6-3, 6-3 and 7-5, 6-4 respectively.
 
The IU Southeast men's tennis team hosts Huntington University and Franklin College beginning at 11 am  on Saturday.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -  The IU Southeast Men's Tennis team had a strong outing on Labor Day in Cincinnati at Mount St. Joseph's.

The Grenadiers swept the doubles 3-0, with No. 1 doubles Matt Coomer and Kevin Sacksteder wining 8-6 staying undefeated for the fall season at 3-0 at No. 1 doubles spot.

The up and coming freshmen Jordan Kelsey and Shane Burke won 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles spot for their first win together of the season.

The veteran duo of Tyler Jackson and Evan Biesterveld secured an 8-1 win at the No. 3 doubles spot.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team starts the fall portion of its schedule tomorrow morning against Indiana Wesleyan at 10 am.
 
The Grenadiers also face Marian University at 3 pm.
 
The Grenadiers have three KIAC All-Conference team members returning for the 2011-12 season including fifth-year senior Matt Coomer and sophomore Breyden Everitt, who excelled in his freshman year.
 
The Grenadiers went 11-8 last season and 6-3 in the KIAC.  They lost to KIAC champion Brescia in the KIAC tournament.
 
The Grenadiers first home match of the fall is September 28 against University of the Cumberlands at 4:15 pm.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Senior Adam Denney and junior Kelsey Wisman have been honored as 2011 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Denney, a Bedford, Ind. native, is one of 96 men's tennis players who have been honored as Scholar-Athletes this season.

Wisman, a Floyds Knobs native and Floyd Central graduate, is one of 126 women's tennis players who have been named 2011 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
