[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Start the Season with a Victory

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The IU Southeast Men's Tennis team had their first win of the year Saturday when they beat Indiana Wesleyan University 5-4 on the IU Southeast campus courts.

It was a huge win for the Grenadiers, last season Indiana Wesleyan was ranked 24th in the nation, and went to the NAIA National Tournament.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The IU Southeast Softball program will host the first ever Midwest Fall Softball Player Showcase this upcoming fall. The date is set for October 24^th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will showcase the softball talents of 60 high school players from IN, KY, IL, OH, TN, and WV.

The structure for the showcase will be in a typical game format, each player will be participating in two 90-minute games at their priority positions.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The fall sports Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Preseason Coaches' Polls were released Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010.

The IU Southeast women's tennis team was selected to finish first in the conference according to the preseason poll. The team received five first place votes with a total of 40 points to put them on top of this year's competition.

NEW ALBANY, Ind.- The IU Southeast Athletic Department announced today that Clay Ryan has been named as interim sports information specialist.

Ryan is the first hire for Interim Athletic Director Joe Glover. Glover replaced former Athletic Director Pat Mrozowski who resigned last month.

Ryan is a former IU Southeast men's basketball player. He first joined IU Southeast during the 2005-06 season as a red shirt freshman for former coach Walt Corbean. That year, the Grenadiers finished ninth in the nation in NAIA Division II with a record of 30-4.

NEW ALBANY, IN (Aug. 3, 2010) - Assistant Athletic Director Joe Glover has been named Interim Athletic Director for Indiana University Southeast following the resignation of Pat Mrozowski.

Glover joined the Grenadier Athletic Department in July of 2005. Prior to joining IU Southeast, Glover worked in the sports information department at the University of Louisville.

During his time at IU Southeast, Glover has been responsible for marketing, facility scheduling, and media relations.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) recently announced that Indiana University Southeast has won the 2009-10 KIAC Commissioner's Cup for a second consecutive year.

The commissioner's cup is determined based upon an average of a team's regular season performance. The highest possible average is 10 (meaning a school won every single title in each sport they competed in. NEW ALBANY, Ind. - IU Southeast Head Volleyball Coach Lesley Drury Prather officially announced the upcoming 2010 women's volleyball schedule on Tuesday morning (6/29).

A total of 32 regular season matches are lined up for the Grenadiers not counting potential post-season play. A total of ten home matches are on this year's schedule, all of which will be played in the Southeast Activities Building on campus.

Coach Drury Prather, entering her second season as a collegiate head coach, is looking forward to playing a tougher schedule this year.

[Softball] Grenadier Softball Alumni Game Set for October

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast softball team will host an alumni game on Saturday, October 2 at the Koetter Sports Softball Complex on campus. The game is set to begin at 11 a.m. in New Albany.

Any former IU Southeast softball players are invited to participate in the game. For more information and to sign up, former players should contact Grenadier Head Coach Todd Buckingham at 812-661-9068.

IU Southeast finished last season with a 33-15 overall record. The 2010 Grenadier squad tied the school record for most wins in a season with 33 (2008).

ATHERTON, Calif. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Sports Information Directors of America (SIDA) had its annual NAIA-SIDA Convention Saturday (7/3) on the campus of Menlo College. Over 50 NAIA SIDs attended the professional development event.

Honored during an afternoon luncheon were publication winners from the 2009-10 academic year. The Indiana University Southeast Athletic Department and Grenadier Assistant Athletic Director Joe Glover were honored in the category for Best NAIA Athletics Website.

[Baseball] Kansas City Royals Select Cameron Conner in 20th Round of MLB Draft

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Grenadier outfielder Cameron Conner became the first IU Southeast baseball player to be drafted by a Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise on June 8.

The Kansas City Royals drafted Conner with the 599^th overall pick on the second day of the 2010 first-year player draft. Conner received the fourth overall pick in the 20^th round of this year's draft a little after 5:30 p.m.

"It feels great to be the first player drafted from IU Southeast," said Conner. "It is a bit overwhelming but I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity. I was watching the coverage from my apartment in New Albany, and was excited when I heard and saw my name."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2010 NAIA Baseball All-Americans, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) All-America Selection Committee.

Grenadier senior Kyle Lenn was named NAIA Baseball All-American (2^nd Team). Lenn becomes only the third IU Southeast baseball player in school history to earn this tremendous honor. Former Grenadiers Jeremy Burchfield (1998) and John Shields (1990) also were named NAIA Baseball All-Americans (2^nd Team).

Lenn, who was also named KIAC Baseball Player of the Year and KIAC Male Athlete of the Year, broke the IU Southeast record for most home runs in a single season earlier this year.

[Women's Tennis] Abby Enteman Named Daktronics-NAIA Tennis Scholar Athlete

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 115 women's tennis players have been named 2009-10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Abby Enteman, a women's tennis junior for IU Southeast was one of 115 athletes who were named a women's tennis scholar-athlete. Enteman is a junior from Floyds Knobs, Ind. and previously attended Floyd Central High School. Enteman was named to the KIAC All-Conference team and helped lead her team to 13-3 overall season record at the No. 5 singles position. Enteman also competed at the No. 2 doubles spot for the Grenadiers.

Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify for this award.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 80 men's tennis players have been named 2009-10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Adam Denney, a men's tennis junior for IU Southeast was one of 80 athletes who were named a men's tennis scholar-athlete. Denny is a junior from Bedford, Ind. and previously attended Bedford North Lawrence High School. Denney was named to the KIAC All-Conference team and finished the year 8-7 at the No. 2 singles spot for the Grenadiers who finished the year with a 9-6 overall record.

Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify for this award.
