WILMORE, Ky. - The No. 2-seeded IU Southeast volleyball team was defeated by No. 3-seed and tournament host, Asbury College 3-0 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Volleyball Tournament Semifinals on Saturday afternoon in Wilmore, Ky.
The Eagles of Asbury swept IU Southeast and moved into the finals for the second straight year. Hindered by illness at the end of the season, IU Southeast finishes its season with an overall record of 23-12. The Grenadiers went 7-1 overall in the KIAC during the regular season under first year head coach Lesley Duruy-Prather.
IU Southeast defeated Brescia University 3-0 on Friday to advance to the semifinal match while Asbury defeated Midway College 3-0 to advance.
IU East defeated Asbury College 3-1 in the KIAC Championship Match and will advance to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament with an automatic bid.
Lindsay Ibold led the Eagles over the Grenadiers with 12 kills and Lauren Budde and Emily Andrews added 10 and nine respectively.
The Grenadiers were led by senior Vanessa Stauble with 10 kills. Senior Stacey Flatt and sophomore Lauren McCartin led the defensive side for IU Southeast, each with 14 digs.
