FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's basketball team earned its first two wins of the season on Friday and Saturday over Daemen College and Roberts Wesleyan College in the St. Francis Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Grenadiers (2-0, 0-0 KIAC) earned their first win on Friday (11/6) afternoon by defeating Daemen, 67-62. On Saturday afternoon (11/7) IU Southeast defeated Roberts Wesleyan College, 64-56.
In the win over Daemen, IU Southeast was led by Whitney Duncan with 14 points, seven assists and two steals. Morgan Hunsaker added 10 points and three steals to aid the Grenadiers to victory in the first game of the season.
The Grenadiers shot 39-percent from field goal range and 43-percent from behind the 3-pt. arc. IU Southeast led by one point at halftime, 24-23.
On Saturday, Hunsaker led the Grenadiers to a victory over Roberts Wesleyan with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Megan Murphy added 12 points and eight rebounds for IU Southeast.
The Grenadiers shot 37-percent from field goal range and 33-percent from behind the 3-pt. arc. IU Southeast led by seven points at halftime, 36-29.
IU Southeast will be back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 10) when the Grenadiers travel to Lindsey Wilson College for a 7 p.m. road game. IU Southeast returns home next Friday (Nov. 13) when the team hosts the University of Virginia at Wise during the first night of the Grenadier Invitational Tournament.
Ticket prices for home basketball games are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast season tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.
