RICHMOND, Ky. - The IU Southeast women's tennis team captured the 2009-10 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday (Oct. 3) morning. The Grenadiers (10-2, 8-0 KIAC) defeated Brescia University 5-3 to win the championship at the Eastern Kentucky University indoor tennis center in Richmond, Ky.
Five IU Southeast players were named KIAC All- Conference athletes. Brooklyn Becher, Lauren Becher, Abby Enteman, Britta Oliver and Kelsey Wisman all earned the KIAC All-Conference distinction.
With the win, first year Grenadier head coach Jenni Walters earns her first KIAC Conference Championship as a college head coach. Walters earned four KIAC Championships as a player for IU Southeast.
The Grenadier women's tennis team will now face the winner of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) in the spring for the right to compete in the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Ala. on May 18-22.
