NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team was picked to finish first in the annual KIAC Coaches' Poll that was released Thursday.
The KIAC coaches tabbed Indiana University Southeast as the top team in the conference with seven first-place votes and 78 total points. The Grenadiers finished the 2011-12 regular season with a 9-2 conference record. They went on to win their fourth straight regular season and conference tournament titles and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Asbury sits in the second spot in the preseason poll with one first-place vote and 64 total points. Point Park University is projected third with one first-place vote and 61 total points. Alice Lloyd College is fourth with 50 points, followed by Brescia University (47 points), Berea College (38 points), Carlow University (33 points), Midway College (24 points) and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (10 points).
Conference play will begin in mid-November. The season will conclude with the KIAC Tournament February 21-26.
