NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team jumped out to an early two-set advantage; staged a tremendous comeback to win the third set and dispatch Cincinnati Christian University 3-0 Tuesday night.
The Grenadiers (16-11, 7-2 KIAC) defeated the Eagles 25-15, 25-19, 27-25.
IU Southeast came out strong early in the match, winning the first two sets convincingly. But in the third set the Grenadiers were down 21-13 before scoring 14 of the final 18 points in the match, including seven in a row to take a 24-23 lead. Jade Troutman had six kills in the final frame to help pull out the win for IU Southeast.
Troutman had a match-high 11 kills while Sara Schum added 10 and P.J. Cockerell had nine. Cara Barkes and Heather Hammonds had a team-high 7 kills for CCU, who dropped to 14-12 and 4-3 in KIAC play.
Stephanie Bradshaw had 37 assists for the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast returns to action on Oct. 30 when they host Asbury at 7 p.m.
