NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team snapped Campbellsville's four-match winning streak with a 3-2 victory Thursday night.
Three IU Southeast players set new career-highs for single-match kills. Sara Schum had 19 kills, Lindsey Maymon had 13 and PJ Cockerell had nine in the win. Meaghen Tompkins added 52 assists.
The match's scores were 25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-11.
Schum helped set the tone of the match early with six kills in the first set, while Lindsey Maymon added four. In the third set, Schum (five) and Coral Maybrier (four) led the offense with nine combined kills as the Grenadiers won 25-16.
In the final set, Maybrier helped the Grenadiers maintain a comfortable lead with three kills in the final frame. Emily Knight ended the secured the win with her third service ace of the match.
The Grenadiers (11-9, 4-1 KIAC) head to Union College to take on Union and Goergetown College on Saturday. The match against Union begins at 9:30 a.m. with the Georgetown match following at noon.
