NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The KIAC coaches have selected Indiana University Southeast as the preseason favorite in women's tennis for the 2012 season, conference officials announced Wednesday, August 15. IU Southeast collected 55 points including six first place votes.
IU Southeast won the regular season and conference tournament championships last season. IU East was the conference tournament runner-up last season and sits in the second spot in the poll with 47 points and two first place votes. Last season's regular season runner-up Asbury University sits in the third position with 44 points. Fourth place belongs to Midway College (39 points) and fifth place goes to Brescia (31 points). The rest of the poll includes St. Louis College of Pharmacy 25 points), Berea College (20 points), conference newcomer Carlow University (17 points), and Alice Lloyd College (10 points).
IU Southeast begins the 2012 at Indiana Wesleyan on August 25. The conference opener is Sept. 8 at Berea.
