BEREA, Ky. - Indiana University Southeast freshman Heather Wheat was named the KIAC women's basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, January 2.

IU Southeast was 1-1 in two games played last week. They defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 81-72 and lost to Union College 76-62.


Wheat averaged 19 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals for the week. She scored 24 points and grabbed 4 rebounds against Union College. The freshman guard connected on 50 percent of her field goal attempts last week (15 of 30). She is currently averaging 11.47 points and 4.53 assists per game. Her assists per game rank ninth in NAIA Division II.

IU Southeast currently has an overall record of 12-5 and is 2-0 in conference play. They will return to action on January 7 when they travel to Alice Lloyd College for a conference game.
