BEREA, Ky. - Indiana University Southeast sophomore Joe Lawson was named the KIAC men's basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday.
IU Southeast was 2-1 last week. They defeated St. Catharine College 89-84 on December 8 and defeated Spalding University 81-70 on December 10. They also lost 82-81 to the University of Saint Francis in overtime on December 6.
Joe Lawson averaged a double-double during the three games last week with 21.7 points and 10.3 rebounds. He scored 30 points and collected 12 rebounds in the game against St. Catharine College. He recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds against Saint Francis. The sophomore forward ended the week with 18 points and 8 rebounds against Spalding. For the week, Lawson shot 79.3 percent from the field (23-of-29).
The Grenadiers are 9-5 overall and ranked 20th in NAIA Division II. They will return to action on Thursday when they travel to the University of Pikeville.
The Grenadiers won the award for the second-straight week.
