NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team ended its two-game losing skid with a 3-1 victory over Spalding University Thursday night in the Activities Building.
The Grenadiers (19-14, 10-5 KIAC) bounced back after a sluggish start. They lost the first set 25-12. They battled back to take the next three games 25-23, 25-21 and 25-20. PJ Cockerell led the Grenadiers with 10 kills. Katie Johnson had 16 assists for the Grenadiers. Spalding's (14-14, 10-1 SLIAC) Sara Schott had 20 assists to lead all players.
The Grenadiers finished with 38 kills, one better than the Golden Eagles.
The Grenadiers head to Lindsey Wilson on Monday, October 24 in a rematch of their home opener on August 23. IU Southeast lost 4-1. They return home on November 1 for their final home match of the season against Oakland City University at 7 p.m. Senior Night activities for the Grenadiers' lone senior, Floyds Knobs native Lauren McCartin, will start at 6:50 p.m.
