NEW ALBANY, Ind. - IU Southeast will hold its annual Crimson and Cream Scrimmage Game to tip off the 2011-12 basketball season on Thursday, October 27 at 7 p.m.

 The women's team will take the floor for the first half of the game and the men will follow for the second half.

Each team will play one half (20 minutes), to show off their talent for the upcoming season. After the women's game there will be a three point contest between the men's and women's top shooters. Following that there will be a dunk contest for the high flyers on the men's squad.

The regular season begins on Nov. 1 for men's team as they travel to Georgetown College. The women's team tips off their season on Nov. 4 at St. Francis. The home opener for the men's team is Nov. 4 against Mid-Continent. The women's team does not have a home game until Nov. 19 against Grace College.

The women's basketball team lost three starters from last year's squad that set a school-record with 16 consecutive wins and finished 27-6 and 13-0 in conference play. IU Southeast lost to Briar Cliff University 71-57 in the first of the NAIA National Tournament. The 27 wins was also a school record. Junior guard Ashmere Woods returns to lead the Grenadiers along with senior forward Megan Murphy.

The Grenadier men's team lost three starters including Jazzmarr Ferguson and Rick Bodiford. The Grenadiers finished 21-11 and 11-2 in conference play. IU Southeast lost 86-75 to Iowa Wesleyan in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. Senior guard Darryl Bell returns to lead the Grenadiers this season.
