NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team pushed its winning streak to four straight matches as they defeated perennial power the Campbellsville Lady Tigers 3-2 Tuesday night in the Southeast Activities Building.
The Grenadiers (5-5) won the first set 25-23 and the teams alternated wins for the rest of the match with IU Southeast clinching the match in the fifth set 15-11.
Lindsey Maymon (Sellersburg, Ind.) and Sara Schum (Louisville, Ky.) led the Grenadiers with 11 kills. Meaghen Tompkins (Louisville,Ky.) ( led all players with 45 assists.
Campbellsville reached the NCCAA National Championship game last season and won the national championship in 2009 so this was an important victory for the young Grenadiers. Six freshmen appeared in the match for IU Southeast.
IU Southeast is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Rose-Hulman for a 7:00 pm match. The Grenadiers return home Friday, Sept. 9 for a doubleheader with conference rivals Mountain State and IU East. IU Southeast faces Mountain State at 5 pm and IU East at 7 pm.
