NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The men's and women's basketball team's will face Brescia University and Midway College respectively in the KIAC Semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 24 in the Southeast Activities Building.

Both Grenadiers basketball teams are coming off dominant performances against St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the first round of the KIAC Tournament. The No. 21-ranked Grenadiers jumped out to a large lead early and did not look back, defeating the Eutectics 91-48. Jazzmarr Ferguson had 24 points and Darryl Bell added 18.

The Grenadier men's team will face Brescia Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. The Bearcats defeated Asbury 71-69 in the KIAC first round to advance.

The Grenadiers (19-10, 11-2 KIAC) defeated Brescia in both meetings this season. On Jan. 12, the Grenadiers beat the Bearcats 107-75. Ferguson had 29 points and five players scored in double-figures including Brice Mitchell who had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. On Feb. 15, the Grenadiers defeated Brescia on the road 97-79 with Ferguson adding 36 points in the victory.

With the 24 points he scored on Tuesday night, Jazzmarr Ferguson needs 30 to set a new scoring record for IU Southeast men's basketball. He will pass Mitchell Speedy who scored 1,981 points from 1993-1997.

On the women's side, the No. 19-ranked Grenadiers crushed SLCOP 80-25. The victory was the team's 14th consecutive victory which set a new women's program record for consecutive victories, surpassing 13 straight wins set by the 1998-1999 team.
Whitney Duncan had 18 points, four rebounds and four steals and Kortney Woods added 11 points and three rebounds.

The Grenadiers (25-5, 13-0 KIAC) will host Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Midway defeated Cincinnati Christian 74-69 on Tuesday night to advance to the KIAC Semifinals.

The Grenadiers defeated Midway 61-43 at home on January 18. Duncan, Megan Murphy and Brianne Miles all scored 10 points in the victory. On Feb. 15, the Grenadiers traveled to Midway but the result was the same- a Grenadier victory 78-57. Ashmere Woods had 25 points, Duncan had 14 and Alden Krausse had 12.

Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 10 years old or younger. IU Southeast Faculty, Staff and Students will be admitted FREE of charge with UCARD. Unfortunately, IU Southeast season tickets cannot be honored for conference tournament games per KIAC bylaws.
