NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's and women's basketball teams obtained number one seeds and home court advantage throughout the KIAC Basketball Championship after conference play concluded on Saturday, Feb. 19.

The No. 20-ranked IU Southeast women's team (24-5, 13-0 KIAC) completed conference play undefeated (13-0) after defeating Alice Lloyd 68-64 in overtime. Both Ashmere Woods and Alden Krausse scored 13 points for the Grenadiers.

On the men's side, the No. 17-ranked Grenadiers lost to IU East 101-96 which resulted in a three-way tie for first place. The Grenadiers (18-10, 11-2 KIAC) secured the No. 1 seed via the third tiebreaker which was point differential. Jazzmarr Ferguson scored 40 points in the victory and moved past Mike Day for second place on the Grenadiers' career points list with 1,888 points. Day scored 1,862 points in his career which spanned from 1984-1988.

Both of the IU Southeast basketball teams will start postseason play on Tuesday, Feb. 22 against St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the Southeast Activities Building. The men's game tips off at 5:30 p.m. and the women's game follows at 7:30 p.m. If the teams win on Tuesday night, they will also host games on Thursday, Feb. 24. If both teams advance to the championship game, it would be hosted by IU Southeast with the men's championship at 5 p.m. and the women's championship game at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 10 years old or younger.
