NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Both of the IU Southeast basketball teams will be in action at the Southeast Activities Building on Wednesday night as the teams return from the holidays with a doubleheader against Alice Lloyd College.
The games tip off at 5:00 p.m. when the IU Southeast women's team attempts to extend their seven-game winning streak. The Grenadiers (10-4, 1-0 KIAC) defeated Tennessee Wesleyan and Union College last week during the Union College holiday tournament. Junior forward Megan Murphy led IU Southeast with 21 points and 12 rebounds against Union College as the Grenadiers defeated the Bulldogs 72-63.
The seven-game winning streak is the longest since an eight-game winning streak in both the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
Alice Lloyd (3-7) is coming off a 91-82 victory over Ohio Christian University. Nicole Lutes had 17 points for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the Grenadier men are looking to snap a five-game losing streak when they face Alice Lloyd at 7:00 p.m. The Grenadiers lost to St. Francis 73-69 on Dec. 17. Freshman guard Reginald Breeden had 20 points and senior guards Rick Bodiford and Jazzmarr Ferguson had 17 points each.
Alice Lloyd (3-9) lost 122-71 to Pikeville College on Dec. 7.
This game is the conference opener for IU Southeast. Last season, the Grenadiers had a record of 11-1 in KIAC play.
Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 10 years old or younger. IU Southeast Faculty, Staff and Students will be admitted FREE of charge with UCARD.
