ATHERTON, Calif. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Sports Information Directors of America (SIDA) had its annual NAIA-SIDA Convention Saturday (7/3) on the campus of Menlo College. Over 50 NAIA SIDs attended the professional development event.
Honored during an afternoon luncheon were publication winners from the 2009-10 academic year. The Indiana University Southeast Athletic Department and Grenadier Assistant Athletic Director Joe Glover were honored in the category for Best NAIA Athletics Website.
IUSAthletics.com, which was redesigned and launched last summer, earned the honor of being named the second best NAIA athletic website for the 2009-10 academic year.
"Making this distinguished list is a tremendous honor for our entire University," said Glover. "We feel that getting accurate and timely information to our athletic fans in a reader friendly format is very important to our brand development."
"Many people on our campus helped make this website possible through a lot of work and effort. Our coaches, student-athletes, and countless University personnel have helped make IUSAthletics.com the place for the latest information regarding Grenadier athletics," said Glover.
The official home of the Grenadiers fell just short of earning the top honor in the category which was won by Westminster College and Sports Information Directors Josh Fisher and Shay Wyatt.
Westmont College Sports Information Director Ron Smith had the tremendous task of coordinating this year's website contest. IU Southeast competed in the category for contracted websites. IUSAthletics.com is member of the SIDHelp family network of websites.
"Greg Black and the entire SIDHelp staff have been excellent to work with," said Glover. "They have really allowed us to take our online presence to the next level in a way that gives us maximum flexibility."
This is the first NAIA-SIDA recognition IU Southeast has received.
