COLUMBUS, Ga. - (Opening Round Scoreboard) The IU Southeast baseball team was eliminated from the 2010 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round on Wednesday (5/19). The Grenadiers fell to the Tennessee Wesleyan 6-4 at Golden Park in Group 8 competition.

IU Southeast traded the lead several times with Tennessee Wesleyan throughout the afternoon but could not drive in runs at critical times during the day. Tennessee Wesleyan scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a two run lead and did not look back. Wesleyan will now take on the loser of LSU-Shreveport vs. Southern Polytechnic State later this evening (5/19).

IU Southeast hit .282 on the day as a team compared to Wesleyan's .273 team batting average. IU Southeast earned its four runs off 11 hits. Wesleyan earned its six runs off nine hits while committing two errors. IU Southeast committed four errors while stranding a total of 15 batters on base.

Tennessee Wesleyan's Daniel Wood received the win on the mound. Bo Daves (8-3) picked up the loss for the Grenadiers. Daves pitched seven innings giving up five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

The Grenadiers depart Columbus, Georgia with a 0-2 record in the team's first appearance at the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round.

With the loss the Indiana University Southeast baseball team finishes it season with a 39-20 overall record. The 2010 Grenadier squad set a new school record for most wins in a season, shattering the previous record of 35 wins.

Earlier this season, the Grenadiers also broke the school record for most consecutive wins with 15 from March 4-20.

The IU Southeast baseball program finished 18-2 in the KIAC, winning the regular-season conference crown. The Grenadiers also won the 2010 KIAC Championship Series which gave them their first bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round.
