NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University Southeast baseball team dropped the first game of the 2010 KIAC Baseball Championship Series on Friday (5/7) evening to Brescia University. The Grenadiers fell 11-4 to the hot-hitting Bearcats of Brescia at the Koetter Sports Baseball Complex.
The second game of the championship series will begin tomorrow (5/8) afternoon beginning at 3 p.m. at the Koetter Sports Baseball Complex on the campus of IU Southeast.
The final game of the three-game series (if necessary) will begin approximately 30 minutes after game two concludes.
The IU Southeast baseball program is now 24-2 at home this season. The Grenadiers only other home loss this year came on April14 to Bellarmine University (NCAA DII).
Brescia University has a current record of 21-26 and finished the KIAC regular season with a 15-5 conference record. The Bearcats earned their bid to this weekend's championship series by winning the KIAC Tournament Playoff Series last weekend in Berea, Ky.
The Grenadiers currently have a 37-18 overall record. IU Southeast won the KIAC regular season title with an 18-2 overall conference record.
The winner of this weekend's conference championship series will represent the KIAC in the 2010 Avista-NAIA World Series Opening Round from May 18-21 at a site to be determined.
