NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University Southeast softball program picked up two wins today over Berea College. The Grenadiers defeated the visiting Mountaineers of Berea College 9-1in the first game of the conference doubleheader in six innings. In the second game of the day, the Grenadiers pulled out a 2-1 victory over Berea.
Prior to Saturday's games, the IU Southeast softball team honored three seniors for their contributions to the University and the softball program. Seniors Tara Denzik, Shana Andres and Brooke Martin were all honored by the softball team, parents and fans.
With today's victories, the softball Grenadiers are now 28-12 overall on the season and 15-1 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). IU Southeast has earned a 17-3 record at home this season and have won seven out of its last eight games.
The Grenadiers are currently in first place at top of the KIAC Softball Standings. Asbury University is currently two games back of the Grenadiers in second place. Brescia University is currently four games back in third place in the regular-season conference standings.
IU Southeast will take on Midway College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (4/20) afternoon on the road in Central Kentucky. The Grenadiers will then finish up their regular season schedule on Sunday (4/25) in Owensboro, Ky. when the team takes on Brescia University at 2 p.m.
