NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Juniors Josh Beams and Alex Schoettmer were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes on Wednesday.

383 baseball student-athletes have been named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Beams, an redshirt junior infielder from Louisville, Ky., appeared in 15 games for the Grenadiers and hit .364. He is also the president of the IU Southeast SAAC and a conference representative on the NAIA's Association of Student-Athletes.

Alex Schoettmer is a LHP from Batesville, Ind. finished the year with a 1-1 record in 14 appearances this season.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
