HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The IU Southeast softball team opens NAIA Tournament Monday at 2:30 p.m. ET against host and No. 7-ranked William Carey University.

The Crusaders are 42-9 and 20-4 in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Scouting the Crusaders (42-9, 20-4 SSAC)

  • William Carey ranks No. 5 in the NAIA with an opponents' batting average of .197.
  • Rachel Hickman ranks No. 19 in the NAIA with an ERA of 1.22.
  • Branda Northrop and Macy Monk ranks No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, in the SSAC with batting averages of .398 and .386.
  • WCU led the SSAC with 4.33 RBI per game.
  • WCU ranks No. 21 in the NAIA with a .963 fielding percentage

Scouting the Grenadiers (28-21, 12-6 RSC)

  • IU Southeast ranks No. 8 in the NAIA with 20 triples
  • Kyndyl Olds leads the team and ranks 3rd in the RSC with 64 hits
  • Sydney Seger ranks No. 5 in the RSC with 36 RBI
  • Emily Gray ranks No. 3 in the league with 12 wins

WCU is making its fourth-consecutive appearance in the NAIA Opening Round. The Crusaders have won two Opening Round titles and are 9-2 overall in the event. IU Southeast is making its second-straight appearance and fourth overall.
