NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team will head to Hattiesburg, Miss. and William Carey University for the opening round of the 2017 NAIA Softball National Tournament.

The No.4-seeded Grenadiers (28-21) will take on No. 1 seed host William Carey on May 15. IU Southeast earned the second bid from the River States Conference as the tournament runner-up. The Crusaders (42-9) are ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA poll and earned an at-large bid to tournament. WCU ranks No. 5 in the NAIA with an opponents' batting average of .197.

The No. 2 seed is Southern Oregon. The Raiders (40-12) are ranked No. 20 and won the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament.  Southern Oregon ranks No. 2 in the NAIA with a .971 fielding percentage.

The No. 3 seed is Southeastern (Fla.) is ranked No. 13 in the final coaches' poll and earned an at-large bid to the tournament. The Fire rank No. 7 with 325 batters struck out and No. 9 with 114 stolen bases.
