NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's basketball team rolled to a 13-point victory over Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday night (Feb. 16) in the Southeast Activities Building. The Grenadiers defeated the visiting Eagles 87-74. IU Southeast honored its two departing seniors, Alisha Briner and Vanessa Stauble prior to the game for their outstanding contributions as student-athletes during the past four years.

With the win, the IU Southeast women's basketball team improves its overall season record to 19-8. The Grenadiers also clinched sole possession of first place in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 12-1 record against KIAC opponents.

The Grenadiers, KIAC Regular Season Champions, have also earned the No. 1-seed in next week's KIAC Basketball Tournament.

The Grenadiers will host the No. 8-seed at home in New Albany next Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. The KIAC Semifinals and Finals will be held in Frankfort, Ky. on Feb. 26-27. Game times will be announced later this week at KIACsports.com

IU Southeast was led by junior Alden Krausse (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) with 19 points, three rebounds and one block. The Grenadiers had a very balanced offensive scoring attack throughout the game with 12 players finding the offensive scoring column during the game.

Whitney Duncan (Louisville, Ky.) added 15 points for the Grenadier attack with two assists and two rebounds.

Jasmine Cain (Jeffersonville, Ind.) scored 10 points with three rebounds and an assist.

The Grenadiers shot 42-percent from field goal range and 44-percent from behind the 3-pt. arc. IU Southeast led over the visiting Eagles of Alice Lloyd by 17 points at halftime, 43-39.

The Eagles out-scored the Grenadiers 43-39 in the second half.

The Grenadier reserves played a pivotal role in the team's success with 58 of the team's total 87 points coming from outside the starting lineup.

IU Southeast combined for a total of 15 steals with four blocks defensively. Alice Lloyd committed 20 turnovers, while IU Southeast only turned the ball over 14 times. The Grenadiers were 22-of-35 from the free throw line for 63-percent. The Grenadiers out-rebounded the Eagles 45-32. IU Southeast also had an impressive 19 offensive rebounds.

Alice Lloyd College (8-15 / 4-7 KIAC) was led by Heahter Martin and Gemma Gray each with a game-high 21 points. Martin completed her double-double with 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Nicole Lutes snatched four rebounds and added 11 points for Alice Lloyd.

The Eagles shot 41-percent from the field and 32-percent from 3-pt. range during the game. Defensively, Alice Lloyd earned nine steals and two blocks.

Alice Lloyd was 24-of-30 from the line for 80-percent.

IU Southeast will finish up its regular season schedule this upcoming Saturday (Feb. 20) when the team travels to Grayson, Ky. to take on Kentucky Christian at 1 p.m.

The Grenadiers will begin post-season play on Tuesday, Feb. 23 when the team will host the No. 8-seed in the KIAC Tournament at home in New Albany. The KIAC Semifinals and Finals will be held in Frankfort, Ky. on Feb. 26-27. Game times will be announced later this week at KIACsports.com and at IUSAthletics.com

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 23. Tickets for the game are $7 for adult general admission. Admission is free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast will also honor all season tickets. IU Southeast Faculty, Staff and Students will be admitted FREE of charge with UCARD.
