NEW ALBANY, Ind.- The IU Southeast athletic department is hosting its 2017 Student-Athlete Banquet presented by New York Life April 24 to honor the success of its seven varsity teams and all student-athletes during the 2016-17 season.

"Last year was the first student-athlete banquet we hosted in many years at IU Southeast. It was a wonderful evening to celebrate all of our student-athlete accomplishments from the past year," Director of Athletics Joe Glover said. "I am looking forward to making this year's event even better as we continue this now annual tradition. It is just another way for us to show our student-athletes how much we appreciate their hard work and the way they represent IU Southeast."

The banquet will recap the seasons of each Grenadier sports team and the IU Southeast cheerleading squad. The event recognizes the individual success of Grenadier student-athletes throughout the season on the field and in the classroom.

For the first time, New York Life Insurance Co. has partnered with IU Southeast Athletics to become the presenting sponsor of the event.

Each Grenadier senior student-athlete is inviting an IU Southeast faculty member who has played a role in their success as they head toward graduation. These faculty members will be recognized on stage during the event for all their support of IU Southeast and the athletic department.

The 2017 Champions Dinner award winners (Male and Female Athletes of the Year and Jim Morris Champion of Character) will also be announced during the evening. This year's Champions Dinner will be held August 5 at Huber's Orchard and Winery's Plantation Hall.
