NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Senior LHP/DH Hector Marmol has been named the River States Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Marmol helped lead the Grenadiers to a 3-1 record on the week as IU Southeast took three out of four games against Asbury to open conference play.
He hit .667 (8-for-12) in the four-game series, with a double, a triple and a home run. Marmol drove in four and scored three runs. Marmol hit safely in all four games, including a 4-for-4 performance with a home run and three RBIs in game two of the series to sweep Friday's games.
He leads the team in batting average (.455) and hits (15) and is tied for second on the team with eight runs scored.
The No. 22-ranked Grenadiers (7-5, 3-1 RSC) host Shawnee State Wednesday at 2 p.m.
