NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team struggled to score in the second half as No. 9 IU East heated up to clinch the River States Conference Tournament championship on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers (24-6) led 34-31 at halftime but saw their shooting stroke fade in the final 20 minutes. IU Southeast shut 33 percent from the field and went 0-of-13 from behind-the-arc.

IU East (26-7) shot 58 percent in the second half as Jordan Furlow scored all 18 of his points in the final 20 minutes. Jaylen McKay kept the Red Wolves in it in the first half and he finished with 17 points. Aaron Thomas had 14 points and Charles Peterson had 10.

Jamie Johnson had a game-high 21 for the Grenadiers while Robert Sawyer had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Demetrius Stanton added 10 points.

The Grenadiers earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament as the regular season champions of the River States Conference. The Grenadiers will find out their first round opponent tomorrow at 7 p.m.
