NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A difficult night offensively doomed the Grenadiers Tuesday, as they fell 58-53 to IU Kokomo.
The Grenadiers (11-12, 6-7 RSC) shot 27 percent from the field in the game but were able to force turnovers to stay in the game. They outscored the Cougars 15-7 in points off turnovers.
IU Kokomo (16-9, 9-4 RSC) led 55-43 with 3:10 to play but the Grenadiers went on a 10-0 run to tighten the contest. Ashley Lyninger hit a three and then two free throws on consecutive possessions. Jenna Shine hit two free throws and Ashley Johnson got a steal and converted on a three-point play to make it 55-53 with 52 seconds left.
After Deja Felder made one of two free throws the Grenadiers forced a wild shot that was missed and IU Kokomo would make free throws down the stretch to win.
IU Southeast travels to Cincinnati Christian Saturday at 1 p.m.
