NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Junior guard Demetrius Stanton was named the River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Stanton, a Fern Creek High School product, helped lead the Grenadiers to wins over Ohio Christian and No.7-ranked IU East last week. He averaged 29.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and five assists while shooting 50 percent (18-of-36) from the field and 44 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range.

Stanton scored 29 points, had six rebounds and six assists on 8-of-18 shooting at Ohio Christian on January 24 as IU Southeast won 93-74. He followed that performance with 30 points, three rebounds and four assists on 10-of-18 shooting and went 4-of-6 from three-point range in a 104-95 win over No. 7 IU East on Saturday.

Stanton is averaging 14.6 points per game which ranks No. 12 in the RSC.

The Grenadiers (17-4, 11-1 RSC) host IU Kokomo Tuesday at 8 p.m.
