KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The IU Southeast Women's Basketball program finds itself just outside the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, which was released Monday by the NAIA national office. The Grenadiers received one vote for the weekly top 25 poll. The IU Southeast women's basketball program is currently 15-7 overall and an undefeated 8-0 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC).

Hastings (Neb.) took over the top spot in the seventh edition of NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Broncos are the fourth team this season to own the No. 1 ranking after earning six first-place votes and 394 points. Davenport (Mich.) drops one spot to No. 2 and also receiving three first-place votes.

Cedarville (Ohio) remains third despite six first-place nods, followed by fourth-ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) and fifth-ranked Northwestern (Iowa).

Two teams jump into the Top 25 this week in No. 20 Cornerstone (Mich.) and No. 21 Grand View (Iowa). The Golden Eagles enter the poll for the first time this season after taking down then-No. 1 Davenport 65-54 on Jan. 27. The Vikings, who have been ranked as high as 16th this season, return to the poll after a two-week absence. Falling out of the poll are Saint Ambrose (Iowa) and Milligan (Tenn.), who were ranked 17th and 25th, respectively.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference and the Mid-Central College Conference each have four teams garnering national recognition. Ranked GPAC teams include No. 1 Hastings, No. 4 Briar Cliff, No. 5 Northwestern and No. 12 Morningside (Iowa). Representing the MCCC are No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 11 Saints Francis (Ind.), No. 18 Huntington (Ind.) and No. 23 Marian (Ind.).

Despite suffering an 80-72 loss at the hands of Morningside on Jan. 30, Hastings moves into the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. The loss ended the Broncos' 17-game winning streak. With a record of 21-3, 11-1 GPAC, Hastings is also at the top of the league standings. Prior to the Morningside loss, Hastings cruised to 75-44 road win over Midland Lutheran (Neb.). The road swing continues for Hastings with Wednesday's game at Concordia (Neb.) and the Broncos will return home Saturday to play host to Briar Cliff.

Like Hastings, Davenport was beat while playing on the road, as the Lady Panthers were taken down by then-unranked Cornerstone, 65-54, on Jan. 27. The 54 points scored by Davenport were the lowest of the season and 36 below its season average of 90.7. The Lady Panthers finished just 34 percent from the field, while allowing 14 offensive rebounds. The loss also ended a 21-game winning streak for Davenport, who's record is now 21-2, 7-1 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. A pair of league contests awaits the Lady Panthers this week, playing host to Michigan Dearborn on Wednesday, followed by Madonna (Mich.) on Saturday.

Cedarville improved its record to 20-3, 11-1 American Mideast Conference last week after picking up three wins, two of which were on the road, to maintain its No. 3 ranking. The Lady Jackets defeated then-No. 20 Walsh (Ohio) 83-56, Northwestern Ohio 84-74 and Point Park (Pa.) 51-47 to run its current winning streak to 12 games. The 51-point showing against Point Park was the lowest offensive output by Cedarville this season. The Lady Jackets are off this week and will return to the court on Feb. 9 at Ursuline (Ohio).

Briar Cliff (21-3, 10-2 GPAC) is spending a second week at No. 4 following a pair of GPAC victories last week in which the Chargers defeated their opponents by an average of 42.5 points. Playing at home against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Jan. 27, Briar Cliff poured in 92 points while limiting the Tigers to just 55 points. The Chargers then dominated Nebraska Wesleyan 84-36 on Jan. 30. Briar Cliff's defense forced the Prairie Wolves into 37 turnovers, turning that into 39 points. Hitting the road this week, the Chargers will head to Dordt (Iowa) on Wednesday, followed by a showdown at No. 1 Hastings on Saturday.

Northwestern retains its No. 5 ranking after winning its lone game last week, a 76-59 win at Dordt, to improve its record to 19-3, 10-2 GPAC. The Red Raiders only have one game again this week, welcoming Mount Marty (S.D.) to Orange City, Iowa, on Wednesday.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences. The next poll will be announced on Feb. 8.
