NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's basketball defeated Asbury College 77-54 on Saturday evening (Jan. 23) in the Southeast Activities Building. IU Southeast celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with a near record crowd of 1,425.

With the win, the IU Southeast women's program remains undefeated in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) with seven conference wins.

IU Southeast (14-7, 7-0 KIAC) was led by Ashmere Woods (Louisville, Ky.) with a 18 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Jasmine Cain (Jeffersonville, Ind.) added 15 points for Grenadiers with two assists.

Rounding out double-digit scores for IU Southeast was Alden Krausse (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) with 10 points and four blocks.

The Grenadiers shot 43-percent (26-of-60) from field goal range and 39-percent (11-of-28) from behind the 3-pt. arc for the game.

IU Southeast led over the visiting Eagles of Asbury by eight points at halftime, 31-23. The Grenadiers turned on the hot shooting in the second half to out-score the Eagles, 77-54. Shooting over 50-percent from the field and from behind the arc as a team in the second half, the Grenadiers rolled to a 23 point victory.

IU Southeast will be back in action on Tuesday evening (Jan. 26) when the team travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on KIAC foe Cincinnati Christian (12-5 / 2-3 KIAC) at 7:00 p.m.

The Grenadiers will return home on Feb. 16 when the team hosts Alice Lloyd College for a 6 p.m. KIAC game. Prior to the game beginning, IU Southeast will honor its two departing seniors Alisha Briner and Vanessa Stauble.

Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 16 - Tickets for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast season tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.
