NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's basketball defeated Midway College 94-69 on Tuesday night (Jan. 19) in the Southeast Activities Building.

With the win, the IU Southeast women's program remains undefeated in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) with six conference wins.

IU Southeast (13-7, 6-0 KIAC) was led by Whitney Duncan (Louisville, Ky.) with a season-high 26 points, three steals and three rebounds. Duncan scored 24 points earlier this month against Brescia University. Alden Krausse (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) scored 16 points for Grenadiers. Krausse also earned a game-high five blocks with two steals.

(Dubois, Ind.) added her season-high 14 points with eight rebounds. Wineinger currently leads the Grenadiers in rebounding this year, averaging over 5.5 rebounds per game.

Rounding out double-digit scores for IU Southeast was Ashmere Woods (Louisville, Ky.) with 12 points and five rebounds.

The Grenadiers shot 49-percent (33-of-67) from field goal range and 40-percent (8-of-20) from behind the 3-pt. arc for the game.

IU Southeast led over the visiting Eagles of Midway by 16 points at halftime, 48-32. The Grenadiers turned on the hot shooting in the second half to out-score the Eagles, 46-37. Shooting over 50-percent from the field and from behind the arc as a team in the second half, the Grenadiers rolled to a 25 point victory.

IU Southeast combined for a total of 17 steals with nine blocks defensively, forcing the Eagles into committing 23 total turnovers. The Grenadiers were 20-of-28 from the free throw line for 71-percent.

Midway College (6-14 / 2-2 KIAC) was led by Katie Mayes and Lindsay Combs who each scored 12 points for the Eagles. Combs also pulled down seven rebounds while Mayes accounted for five rebounds and two assists. Jackie Hicks added 10 points for Midway.

Midway won the battle on the glass, out-rebounding IU Southeast 44-39.

The Eagles shot 36-percent from the field and 20-percent from 3-pt. range. Defensively, Midway forced IU Southeast into 17 turnovers with seven total steals.

Midway was also 20-of-28 from the free-throw line for 71-percent.

IU Southeast will be back in action on Saturday evening (Jan. 23) when the team hosts Asbury College (7-9 / 1-2 KIAC) at 6:00 p.m.

Saturday is also IU Southeast Homecoming. The men's basketball team will also take on Asbury College immediately after the women's game. Please join us for our homecoming festivities next Saturday as we welcome our entire alumni back home to IU Southeast.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. Tickets for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast season tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.
