NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University Southeast men's basketball team won a high-scoring game on Wednesday evening, defeating regional-campus rival Indiana University East 101-71 at home. 3

The No. 7-ranked Grenadiers (NAIA Division II) downed the visiting Red Wolves of IU East to earn the team's 16th consecutive win at home. The streak currently dates back to December 6, 2008 when the Grenadiers suffered a loss to the University of the Cumberlands.

IU Southeast (12-3, 2-0 KIAC) was led by freshman Brice Mitchell (Louisville, Ky. / Male H.S.) with 18 points, nine rebounds and a block. With the win, IU Southeast has scored one-hundred or more points in six games this season.

Senior Alex Gravelle (Louisville, Ky.) recorded 16 points with four rebounds and three assists for IU Southeast. Senior Carlos Mitchell (Louisville, Ky. / Fern Creek H.S.) scored 15 points with four rebounds and four steals to help lead the Grenadiers to victory. A total of six Grenadiers scored in double-digits to combine for a balanced scoring attack.

The Grenadiers shot 43-percent from field goal range (35-of-81) and 30-percent from behind the 3-pt. arc (9-of-30). IU Southeast connected on 22-of-31 free-throws (71-percent). IU Southeast also received good support from its substitutes with 52 of its 101 total points coming from off the bench.

IU Southeast led by 13 points at halftime, 46-33.

IU East (8-7 / 0-1 KIAC) was led by Tyler Rigby with 21 points and four assists. Bijon Jones added 14 points with four rebounds for the visiting Red Wolves.

The Red Wolves shot 39-percent from the field and 40-percent from beyond the arc with only 16 of its 71 total points coming off the bench.

IU Southeast stole the ball for a total of 15 times with its tough defensive pressure. The Grenadiers out-rebounded the Red Wolves 52-44. The Grenadiers protected the ball decently throughout the game, only turning it over 15 times. IU East turned the ball over for a total of 28 times.

The IU Southeast men's basketball team will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday afternoon to face Cincinnati Christian for a 3 p.m. Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) game.
The Grenadiers will return home next week when the team hosts Berea College on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast season tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.
