NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Celeste Bell has been named IU Southeast cheerleading coach, IU Southeast Associate Athletic Director Denny Williams announced today.

She replaces Kaelin Abbott who resigned in July.

"Celeste is an experienced coach who will ensure that the team keeps the school spirit high," Williams said. "She has helped with the squad in the past which will make for a smooth transition."

Bell is currently the cheerleading head coach at Floyd Central High School. She was a four-year member of the Highlander cheerleading squad from 2002-2005 and helped lead the team to state championships in 2004 and 2005. She spent three seasons as a cheerleader at the University of Louisville.

"I am a very excited to join the IU Southeast cheerleading program as head coach," Bell said. "After being around the program for five years, I know that the team is talented and ready to work hard this season."

She has also worked as a tumbling coordinator and cheer coach at Indiana All Stars. She has won 12 national championships with a variety of age groups and her 2011 team was a Cheerleading World's Finalist.

She also was in charge of the choreography for each of the IU Southeast cheerleading squad's four national championship-winning routines from 2010-13..
